Even though Avast is one of the most famous antivirus programs, there has been times that we have to uninstall or remove it from our computers, for example, an incomplete update will make it not run properly so it needs to be uninstalled. To uninstall Avast thoroughly, it is necessary for us to boot the computer into safe mode before the removal. Then we can use the three methods below to begin the uninstall process.

Method One: Uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs
As we all know that it is very normal to uninstall a program from Add/Remove Programs list if it it listed there. We can follow the below instructions to accomplish this:
1)Click on “Start” Menu and then “Control Panel”.


2)Open Add/Remove Programs.
3)Find and highlight Avast in the programs list.


3)Click ” Change/Remove” button to remove it from your computer.
4)Follow the on-screen steps to finish the uninstall process.

Method two: Uninstall it with Avast uninstall utility
1)Download the Avast uninstall utility directlt here: http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe
2)Double click on the file and run it.
3)When the following window appears, click on ellipsis in red circle to log in the folder where Avast installed, such as C:\Program Files\AlWil\Avast


4)Click “Uninstall” to finish the removal.

In case that the above two methods fails to uninstall it from the computer, what should we do? We can uninstall it with Perfect Uninstaller. That is the third and the simplest way to uninstall programs.

Method three: Uninstall it with Perfect Uninstaller

Uninstall it with “Uninstall” function
Step 1: Run Perfect Uninstaller.
Step 2: Locate and highlight Avast antivirus in the “Display Name” list window.
Step 3: Click Uninstall button to begin the removal.


Step 4: Follow the on-screen steps to finish the removal.

In case that the program still functions well after the “Uninstall” function, please go to use “Force Uninstall” function. Force Uninstall is the most powerful way in uninstalling programs.

Uninstall it with “Force Uninstall” function
 Step 1: Run Perfect Uninstaller.
Step 2: Click “Force Uninstall” tab on its main interface.
Step 3: Click “OK” to skip the pop-up: First please try the “Uninstall” function!


Step 4: Locate the name of the program in the first blank (just select the quick time icon).


Step 5: Navigate the path of the program within the second blank.


Step 6: Click “Next” and follow the on-screen steps to finish the removal.

After restarting the computer as repuired, Avast will be completely uninstalled from the computer.
