I recently bought my daughter an old lap top with office 97 pre installed. I wanted to uninstall it and install some of office 2000 as my daughter wants office 2000 on it. When trying to uninstall Office through Add/Remove Programs, It asks for the installation CD. Then I get a setup initialization error. But apparently, I have not got the CD the file it was looking for was. So, I have to try other things to get around this.
