How do you remove Security Center on your computer? My twin brother has two AV programs on his laptop and would like to fully remove the Norton Security Center. He already went to add/remove programs in control panel, but he knows there is more that has to be done to fully remove the program. He manually searched out all registry entries pertaining to Norton and Symantec, deleting all Norton folders and files that he could find, running some cleaning utilities that they have at their website and three different registry cleaners. But the problem still remains: The new security center that came with SP2 still say’s Norton is protecting his computer?

Uninstall Norton Security Center
To uninstall and reinstall Norton AntiVirus (NAV) or the Norton Security Center (NSC) without completing the initial configuration wizard, use the Window’s Add or Remove Programs function:

  1. Uninstall Norton Security Center
  2. Click the “Start” button in Windows XP, select “Control Panel” and open “Add or Remove Programs.” In Windows Vista or Windows 7, click “Start” and type “features” into the “Search” box at the bottom of the menu. Select “Programs and Features” from the list of results.
  3. Select the Norton Security Center in the listing and click Remove.
  4. Follow the steps in the “Windows Uninstaller Wizard” to remove the Norton Security Center from your computer.
  5. Allow the PC to shutdown and restart before installing or reinstalling any programs.
