My girlfriend installed a freeware program from the net, said no to Alot toolbar, but it installed anyway. She then went to the add/remove programs in control panel, said remove, it then said it was uninstalled, but it is still in the Firefox and internet explorer BOTH. She likes Firefox, but wants the Alot toolbar out. Now, it just showed up on my computer as my web site. I have tried to remove it but something in the system keeps blocking my attempts.
What is Alot?
In reality, Alot is a series of toolbars each based on a different subject ranging from music, videos, and news all the way to parenting information and recipes. Each toolbar gives organic search results for the specific topic. The toolbar also provides error redirection to show links for potentially correct pages and search results for misspelled web addresses. Though the toolbars are free to all users, the company earns income from the advertisement revenues on the toolbar and search results.
Somehow, the Alot toolbar appears to be spyware or malicious adware or it just change your homepage for no obvious reason, you can uninstall it from the mostly used Firefox after following these simple steps.v
1. Click Tools on the top of the Firefox browser. Then click Add-ons.
2. Select the Alot toolbar if it is not already highlighted. Then click on the Uninstall button for the Alot toolbar and it will be uninstalled from your Firefox browser.
3. Click the Uninstall button to confirm you want to uninstall the Alot toolbar.
4. The dialog will then indicate that the Alot toolbar will be uninstalled when Firefox is restarted. To complete the removal, close and then reopen your Firefox browser.

However, for some reasons, the Alot toolbar can’t be removed from Firefox or browser of any kind, the only option left is to apply an uninstaller program that can get rid of its directory or program folder.
