Are you able to remove corrupted ESET Smart? My nephew recently installed ESET Smart Security 4 but he lost the username and password info. Consequently, he can’t get it back and want to uninstall ESET. But it won’t let him because it keeps asking for the password to uninstall it, which he doesn’t have. He has tried using uninstaller software to remove but the ESET doesn’t appear on it. He also tried the safe mode and in command line but it doesn’t work either.
Issue on uninstalling ESET Smart Security
There are some users who try to remove ESS using Add/Remove programs, but it tells them that it is missing a file called ess_3.0.650.msi. Mostly users do not have this file under this situation, and they couldn’t find it anywhere on the net or on the ESET site. It can be really frustrated if the program keeps be from upgrading to any newer version of ESS as those automatically want to start the uninstall process of the currently installed version.
Uninstall Procedure Provided by ESET
- Click Start >Programs >ESET >Uninstall. After you uninstall, you will need to restart your computer.
- After restarting, confirm that you can see hidden files and folders by clicking Start >Control Panel >Folder Options >View and select the Show hidden files and folders option.
- Click Start >My Computer and then navigate to and delete the following folders:
C:\Program Files\ESET
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET
C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\ESET
- Windows Vista/7 Users must delete the following folders:
C:\Program Files\ESET
C:\ProgramData\ESET
The ESET Smart Security or NOD32 application should now be deleted. You can install a newer version of the software or install antivirus software with ease. If you have used the ESET Start Menu uninstaller and continue to have problems uninstalling or reinstalling your ESET security product, or your ESET security product remains active after uninstalling, then the removal has failed. In that regard, a reliable uninstaller tool should be the last resort of your problem.

Hi I really really need help…. I want to uninstall Eset Smart Security 4.0.437.0 because it says my licensing credentials are expired. I dunno what it is. But when I try to, it says “I need essbe_nod32.msi file”? Will the Force Uninstall work for this?
...I have this awesome software but the trial has expired, I have purchased the key but, the software wants me to uninstall the previous version and get a new version from their website. ...Recently I installed Eset SS on my VAIO laptop. It was running fine till I discovered that the latest version- 4.2, won’t allow the computer to go on stand-by.
