Have you just purchased new antivirus but can’t install because you get an error code when trying to uninstall AVG? Or, you have to remove AVG Anti-Virus because it is not operating properly such as updating problems, or maybe it won’t open at all and needs to be reinstalled? Whatever your reason is, for removing AVG, here some steps below to follow.

A regular uninstall should remove AVG:

  1. Click on the Start Button, select Control Panel.
  2. Go to Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features for Windows 7 and Vista users.
  3. Look for AVG and click on it to highlight it
  4. Hit “Remove” and follow the instructions to uninstall AVG

Or you can follow these steps to uninstall the AVG application from your computer with its own uninstaller:

  1. On the taskbar, click Start -> Programs (All Programs) -> AVG -> Uninstall AVG.
  2. Follow the uninstall wizard to uninstall AVG from your computer.

With ways above, if you experience any difficulties uninstalling AVG, please follow the steps below:

  1. Download the latest AVG installation file from the Download section of our website.
  2. When prompted, save the file to the Desktop.
  3. Restart your computer.

I’m trying to uninstall AVG 9 in order to use Combofix. When I tried uninstalling it using Add/Remove programs, an error popped up so I used the removal tool from the Grisoft website, and also removed anything in the registry related to AVG. But Combofix still detects AVG as active on my system. Have tried Perfect uninstaller. It gets rid of the reminants in a second.Amazing!
