Disable Programs July 15th, 2008Why do you disable programs?
Most of the time, it is recommended to quit the programs to be removed before you uninstall it, in order to be able to do a complete removal and not affect the system . Sometime we need to disable programs to diagnose the system problems. The built-in Task Manager is a safe and effective way to do this.
How to disable programs before uninstalling them
For Windows 95/98/Me:
1. Hold down “Alt+Ctrl+Delete” or “Ctrl+Shift+Esc” to launch the Task Manager.
2. Select the process you want to stop, and then click End Process.
For Windows NT/2000/XP:
1. Hold down “Alt+Ctrl+Delete” or “Ctrl+Shift+Esc” to launch the Task Manager.
2. Select the process you want to stop, and then click End Process.
Note: Sometimes, there are attached advertisements with the program you want to uninstall, so you should disable the related programs for a complete shuting down of the application. Or the advertisements will keep on showing up after you have removed the program. Before you disable a program, you should be ensured of the name of the application to be removed. If you stop a system process which it is not the program you want to quit, it may cause errors or shuting your conputer down.

How do you disable folder view for FTP sites?
Step1: Open Internet Explorer.
Step2: Click Tools and select Internet Options.
Step3: Click the Advanced tab to make the options open to changes.
Step4: Click the square beside the options to enable or disable the Internet Options.

How do you disable add-ons of Internet Explorer?
Step1: Open Internet Explorer.
Step2: Click Tools and select Internet Options.
Step3: Click the Programs tab,and then you will see a Manage Add-ons button as follows:
Step4: Click the Manage Add-ons button to open a window.
Step5: Choose the subject in the Show area.
Step6: Click the program in the list, and then you are able to choose to enable or disable the program.
Step7: Click OK and complete to disable programs.
