itunes-104I uninstalled iTunes 10.4 and replace it with an iTunes 10.3. Now when I try to run I tunes, it says that the file library has been done by another version of iTunes, and that it cannot open the file. When I press “Ok” button, nothing happens. I removed iTunes 10.3 and reinstalling it after removing everything using Windows Uninstaller cleaner. Now, for some reason, my iTunes backgrounds have remained black and there are other functional issues as well. This is the first time that I work with an apple product, and I am really lost.

Common problems with iTunes 10.4
Ever since Apple released iTunes 10.4, it does fix a handful of irritating bugs that users have come across over the past few weeks. The media keys on some third-party keyboards can work inconsistently and songs or videos can be added quickly on it. Still, there chances that people have trouble deleting and reinstalling iTunes.

Common ways to uninstall iTunes 10.4
The usual option to uninstall iTunes 10.4 is through Control Panel of Windows as such:
2. Go to Start menu
3. Select Control Panel and click on the Add or Remove Programs or Uninstall A Program
4. Highlight and select “Remove” to uninstall each of the programs which are listed below:
- Apple Software Update
- Bonjour
- iPod
- iTunes
- QuickTime
5. Follow the onscreen steps to finish each removal.

This is how the built-in uninstaller of iTunes 10.4 works, but it usually does not result in a complete removal as it will leave entries in hard drive and registry as such:

HKEY_CURRENT _USER/Software/Apple Computer, Inc.
HKEY_CURRENT _USER/Software/Apple Computer, Inc./iTunes
HKEY_CURRENT _USER/Software/Apple Computer, Inc./iTunes/Parental Controls
HKEY_CURRENT _USER/Software/Apple Computer, Inc./Quick Time
HKEY_CURRENT _USER/Software/Apple Computer, Inc./Quick Time/LocalUserPreferences
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Apple Computer, Inc.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Apple Computer, Inc./iPod

If you can read this registry keys after a normal uninstall of iTunes 10.4, you can either manually delete them or apt to a registry cleaner. Luckily, there is short cut to access this information if you can apply an uninstaller software to scan the left directories of iTunes 10.4 as such:

C:\Program Files\Apple Software Update
C:Program Files\Bonjour
C:Program\ FilesiPod
C:Program\ FilesiTunes
C:Program \FilesQuickTime

The point is that need a uninstall tool like Perfect Uninstall which is able to scan and forcibly uninstall the left over entries of iTunes 10.4 or other program like Skype 5.5.

A Perfect Uninstaller includes special uninstaller software and additional step by step instructions to remove these applications as well and you don’t need to go into your registry area and do it manually. In that sense, it is a safer and easier solution than Windows standard uninstaller.
