SCANDISK or ScanDisk is a utility in MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows systems which checks and repairs file systems and bad clusters on the hard drive. It was introduced in MS-DOS version 6.2. Previous versions of MS-DOS supplied only the simpler, purely text-based program CHKDSK. ScanDisk included a more user-friendly interface than MS-DOS CHKDSK, more command-line and other configuration options, and the ability to detect and sometimes recover from physical errors on the disk. Unlike CHKDSK, ScanDisk would also repair crosslinked files.

In case you need to uninstall SCANDISK once it doesn’t work, you can locate the SCANDISK within Windows control panel then remove it with the Windows removal wizard.

  • Click Start and go to Control panel
  • Open the Add/Remove utility of Windows
  • Locate SCANDISK in the list and click Remove

  • Follow the on-screen instruction to uninstall SCANDISK

If the SCANDISK can not be found in Windows Control Panel, you may need to follow the instruction to uninstall SCANDISK completely and safely with Perfect uninstaller.

  • Close all files, folders and processes relating to SCANDISK. It is better that you can close all other running programs.

  • Highlight SCANDISK in the“Display Name” list and then click“Uninstall” to proceed.
  • Follow the prompts to finish the removal of SCANDISK.
