Chris has just changed printer from an HP to the brand Brother. The problem he now has is that the Hewlett-Packard software won’t uninstall. When he run the uninstaller app, it reports that the various uninstall plug-ins are missing. It clatters his drive but he is not using it. These issues require a full uninstall and reinstall to fix.

Though HP installs an uninstall utility with the print driver to simplify the uninstall process, this uninstall utility removes the product driver, not the additional software that installed with the driver.

  1. Unplug the USB cable connecting the product to the computer.
  2. Open the uninstaller:
  3. Windows XP: Click Start, click All Programs, point to HP, and then click the folder for the product, which is labeled according to the product series number.
  4. Windows Vista: Click the Windows icon, click All Programs, point to HP, and then click the folder for the product, which is labeled according to the product series number.

If there is not a folder for your product, discontinue the steps in this procedure and try one of the other methods for uninstalling the Hewlett-Packard software. If problems arise while installing or uninstalling the software, you can download this removal utility to uninstall Hewlett-Packard software or remove HP Officejet Pro before attempting software reinstallation.
