mcafee-site-advisorMy sister has McAfee virus protection. She does not need the McAfee Site Advisor but cannot figure out how to remove it. The Site Advisor was installed by McAfee via an entire reinstall from McAfee’s web site. I have it disabled, but it is still taking up space with its own task bar in my browser. I decided to uninstall McAfee Site Advisor. After doing so I was told that uninstall was successful and to restart my PC to finish the process. I did so but I still have the McAfee Icon in my Systems Tray. Have you run into this problem with McAfee before? It is driving us crazy now!

What is McAfee Site Advisor?
In reality, McAfee Site Advisor is a free toolbar that tests the web pages you call up for spyware, phishing and other computer-security threats. It can be installed to both Internet Explorer and Firefox web browsers. It makes a determination as to whether a site is safe to visit. As you search or visit a Web site, Site Advisor queries its database and returns its results as colored icons on a search page, a colored button on your browser, or blocked Web site access. In theory, this is an effective means to warn users regarding bogus sites; however, it sometimes gave legitimate sites that have been defaced by cross-site scripting attacks clean bills of health. Meanwhile, removing McAfee Site Advisor is never a simple process to apply.

General ways to uninstall McAfee Site Advisor
McAfee Site Advisor can be installed as a standalone application (by downloading it directly from SiteAdvisor.com) or as an integrated module within a security suite (such as McAfee Total Protection).

Should you ever want to remove McAfee Site Advisor? I found the uninstall process quick and clean after using an automatic removal program to remove the Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter when the normal removal methods fail. The removal program is branded as Perfect Uninstaller that works on currently used Windows operations systems.
